Krishnan Balakrishnan is a multifaceted actor with a profound presence in the realms of drama, theatre, movies, web series, and short films. With a versatile portfolio spanning various mediums, Krishnan has garnered recognition for his remarkable performances across the entertainment industry.
Kavalam Narayana Panicker, a legend in theatre, played a vital role in shaping Krishnan’s journey as an actor, moulding his craft and giving him an important foundation in his artistic life. Later, after being recognized as an actor, Krishnan had the opportunity to work with Soorya Krishnamoorthi in the celebrated drama Melvilasam and My Saviour (Multi Mega Show), which further highlighted his theatrical presence.
Krishnan Balakrishnan played the main character in his debut film Oral, directed by Kukku Surendran.
In cinema, Krishnan has had the privilege of working with acclaimed director Adoor Gopalakrishnan, contributing his talent to enriching cinematic narratives with his nuanced portrayals. He also played one of the most important roles as Sandiyap in Kuttisrank, directed by Shaji N. Karun and starring Mammootty, a film that went on to win nine National Awards. Additionally, he has appeared in eight films directed by Dr. Biju, portraying diverse characters that reflect his range as an actor.
On stage, Krishnan has performed in two major theatre productions alongside legendary actors Mammootty and Mohanlal, further cementing his place in the cultural landscape. He has also participated in numerous national and international drama and film festivals, representing the richness of Malayalam art and theatre.
Beyond acting, Krishnan has been actively involved in innovative performance platforms such as Living Room Performance Songs and Mini Play Conversations, exploring fresh ways to connect with audiences.
In 2019, he served as the Youth Theatre Festival Coordinator for the Kerala Youth Welfare Board and played a vital role in conceptualizing and bringing to life initiatives like “Oru Theruvu” Art and Literature Meeting and the Manaveeyam Veedhi cultural space, which continue to inspire vibrant artistic dialogue in Kerala.

In 2024, for the movie Kadha Innuvare starring Biju Menon, Krishnan Balakrishnan penned and sang a folk song, which he also performed in a scene where he portrayed a divine character.
Krishnan Balakrishnan received the Kerala State Award for Best Actor for his outstanding performance in the television serial Kalikandaki, directed by Madhupal.
He has traveled to 14 countries, including nations across Europe and the Gulf, showcasing his talent through theatre and drama performances.
Krishnan Balakrishnan also worked as the casting director for the movie Pathinettampadi and contributed to grooming new actors in the film Eighteen Hours.
He also acted in the Hindi movie Mahadev Ka Gurakhpur directed by Rajesh Mohan.
Krishnan Balakrishnan worked with Shanker Ramakrishnan as an assistant director in Pathinettampadi and in several other films.
He has also collaborated with Vaya Films, contributing to performance grooming and production.
